When Hans Weijs Junior enters himself in October 2004, age 17, for a selectionday of KNAF Talent First, which will start in 2005, no one can imagine him to be named one of the biggest Dutch rallyingtalents ever only three years later. He wins the selectionday for the scoutingprogram the Dutch autosport federation have initiated. The day is held at the Eurocircuit Valkenswaard. In 2005 he is a part of the three best participants of KNAF Talent First in a competion with Ford RST in the Dutch Rallyracing Championship. Hans drives six races in this car that was developed by the late Colin McRae. He beats his opponents Thijs van Gammeren and Eduard Wichers and finishes second in the championship. His reward is a driversseat in a cup car for the 2006 season.

In the summer of 2005 the idea arises to compete in the Vierhouten Pallets Nederland Rallysprint after the completion of the Ford RST competition. Hans Junior enters a Volkswagen Golf TDI, a diesel. The car is the Group N homologated recce car of the Hans Weijs Rallyteam and a former Volkswagen Motorsport training vehicle. Months before the rally he starts a complete rebuild of the car.To save costs he wants to drive with 18 inch rims, so he can mount used tyres of his fathers Golf IV Kitcar. This means he has to enter in Group A. KNAF offers him the possibility to enter the rally and Hans starts enthousiastically for his first big rally. At the start of SS 3 the car suffers a broken driveshaft. Instead of retiring he starts a repair. After the car is repaired he finishes the rally, but is not classified because he arrives late at the checkpoints after SS3. The last rally of the season, the Conrad Euregio Rally, sees Hans and his whispering diesel surprising everybody. After seven stages Hans is in an astonishing 30th place. Sadly the car again suffers a broken driveshaft. This time a repair is impossible. Hans has to retire.

For the 2006 season he is the official KNAF Talent First driver. He is entered for the Mitsubishi Colt Rally Cup in a Mitsubishi Colt CZT. This car was developed by Van den Heuvel Autosport in Barneveld. Again Hans is the big surprise of the season. Competing his first rally with the car he outclasses his more experienced opponents and takes the first win with a four minute margin. The Colt proves in Almere to be a good car. After hitting a barrel of a chicane, a failing plug of the ABS the car makes it slide of the road. Hans brings the battered car home in fourth place. At Hulst all Colts suffer from a technical problem. KNAF withdraws the car after the cup organizers rule that the result in Hulst will not count for the cup. From the Paradigit ELE Rally there is no stopping of Hans anymore. He wins all other rallies of the season. Exactly one year after his debut, he takes the Colt title in Barneveld. At the Conrad Euregio Rally he slides of and makes an impressive comeback taking yet another win. In August he makes his debut on the global WRC podium with a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIIin Germany. The ultimate WRC event, Wales Rally GB, he’s at the wheel of a M-Sport prepared Ford Fiesta ST. On both events he brings the car home and finishes.

The next step in his development is made prior to the 2007 season. A Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8 Group N car is prepared for him. He will contest the Rallyclinic Dutch Open with this car. Yet again he’s the big surprise in the seasonopener. Before the last stage he is in fourth place overall and comfortably leading the production car classification. The ultimate stage of the Tank S Rally is a wet one because of sudden rain. Most cars are on the wrong tyres. Hans has to make up over half a minute on Jan de Winkel in third place. Unfortunately half way through the last stage and having made up over 45 seconds, the clutch breaks and Hans has to retire. Almere and Helmond see the true potential with Production Car wins. At Hulst the car strikes him out again and at Etten Leur he has to make a diversion in order not to hit a spectator. The car lands over three meters down in a cornfield. KNAF meanwhile have formed the KNAF Talent First WRC Team. Hans is part of this team and decides only to compete in WRC rallies for the rest of the season.

The WRC project, with experienced Dutch driver Jasper van den Heuvel alongside him, started in Italy. Hans finishes Rally Italia Sardegna ninth in Group N an 27th overall. The second event is the famous Neste Oil Rally Finland. The infamous Ouninpohja stage shows Hans that there is no margin for error. He rolls the car after a puncture at almost the last corner of the stage. Because of damage to the rollcage he has to retire. At Trier, center for Rally Gemany, Hans uses a newly built EVO 9 for the first time. He shows his talent together with Jasper van den Heuvel. At the end of day one in Germany the two Dutch cars lead in Group N. Only Austrian champion and former VW Motorsportdriver Raimund Baumschlager is able to split up the Dutch team. Van den Heuvel takes the Production car win, Hans is in third spot. Spain sees a strong Hans Weijs Junior. He finishes fourth in Group N at the Spanish tarmac event. The last two rallies take him and co driver Hans van Goor to the British isles. Rally Ireland is extremely difficult on the muddy and slippery Irish tarmacroads. Hans brings the car home in 16th place Group N. His last event is Wales Rally GB. On day one he suffers technical problems and has to use SupeRally regulations to stay in the event. He´s in 53rd position. Again his comeback is impressive. At the end of day three is back in position 31 overall and position 16 in Group N.

At the beginning of the 2008 season he's back in a frontwheel drive. KNAF wants their talents to drive in a FIA championship. They are entered for the Junior World Rally Championship. Hans choses a brand new car to drive during 2008: a Citroen C2 R2 MAX. His teammate in the newly formed KNAF Talent First Team Holland is Kevin Abbring. Abbring choses a Renault Clio R3 for his JWRC season. Both Dutch talents have an impressive season, in and out of the car. After dramatic ritirements for both cars in Jordan, Hans is first the Dutch driver ever to take a point in a World Championship. In Italy he's in eight place. Finland delivers him his second point. To be competitive for the last three tarmac events a new tarmac car is built. During WRC Germany Hans only suffers bad luck with brake faillure on stage 1, a gearboxproblem on the second day and a broken driveshaft on day three. Before beeing excluded from day two as a result of arriving late after the gearbox problem, he shows his potential on the Panzer Platte with a third time overall in the JWRC. In Spain he's looks set for a sixth place when he rolls the car down a steep hill. With Corsica just a week away the team has to act fast. The gravelcar is transported from the Netherlands to the south of France. The team changes the set up from gravel to tarmac on the Ajaccio service but Hans has to admit his C2 R2 MAX is underpowered in the Corsican hills. He ends his seaon with just 2 points. The KNAF Talent First Team holland however wins the FIA ASN Nations Cup.

In december 2008 the KNAF confirms its line up for the 2009. Again Hans Weijs Jr and Kevin Abbring will be the drivers. It is clear to Hans that in order to compete at the top level of the JWRC he has to change his car. Two weeks before the seasons opener in Ireland the choice is made. Hans will drive a Citroen C2 S1600 during the 2009 season.
